Skye’s AI Home Screen App Snags Funding Before It’s Even Out — Here’s Why That Matters

Skye just pulled in funding for an app that isn’t even on the App Store yet. That’s not as crazy as it sounds.

The company is building an AI-powered home screen for iPhone. The idea is simple: instead of you digging through folders and swiping pages, the app learns your routines and surfaces what you need before you ask. Think widgets that actually know what time you check email, or a dock that swaps apps based on where you are.

I’ve seen this concept before — a dozen startups have tried to “reinvent the home screen” over the years. Most failed because iOS is locked down. Skye’s approach seems to work within Apple’s limits rather than fighting them. They’re using on-device machine learning and clever widget configurations to mimic a truly dynamic interface.

The funding round wasn’t huge, but the fact that investors jumped in pre-launch tells me two things. First, people are tired of the same static grid Apple has shipped since 2007. Second, the market is hungry for AI that feels useful rather than gimmicky. We’ve had enough chatbots that write poems. Give me an app that knows I need the calculator at 3 PM every Tuesday.

Of course, there’s risk. Apple could crush this with a single iOS update — they’ve done it before. And power users might find the automation too aggressive. But Skye’s bet is that most people want a phone that does more thinking for them.

I’m cautiously optimistic. If they can pull off a home screen that actually adapts without being creepy or draining the battery, they might have something. The AI hype cycle has been exhausting, but this is one of those rare ideas that could make your phone feel less like a tool and more like a teammate.
